Label Success Stories

Because we sell through resellers we will not publish the reseller or end user's names when listing success stories. Below are label success stories that will give you an idea of many of the great opportunities available when you sell labels:

STATE TEMPORARY LICENCE PLATE TAGS

Opportunity
The state buyer was unhappy with the cardboard temporary tags they were using for temporary license plate registration tags. The cardboard tags were easy to counterfeit and made it difficult for law enforcement to quickly determine authenticity. Violators were costing the state millions of dollars in lost revenue every year.

Solution
The reseller (working with manufacturing) proposed a temporary tag/label solution with a unique security hologram. This unique removable label would be provided to authorized car dealers and tag offices. The dealer writes the automobile information and expiration information on the front of the label and then removes a clear liner from the back and affixes it to the front. This locks in the variable information. The over laminated liner does not allow writing on the front once affixed. The custom unique hologram made the label almost impossible to counterfeit.

Results
The state buyer was thrilled because tag revenues were better protected. State law enforcement officials were happy because they can easily spot a fraudulent or counterfeit tag. The reseller is happy because this particular state requires 1.5 to 2 million temporary tag labels every year.

Emergency Room Triage Labels

Opportunity
A local ambulance company was in need of a method to collect triage assessments and then easily transfer this information to a patient’s chart when arriving at a hospital.

Solution
The reseller proposed an 8 ½ X 9 sheeted label where one side of the liner would be removed exposing the adhesive and folded over to form an assessment card. First responders could then write information indicating their assessment of the patient on the card. The label would then be removed from the card and affixed to a patient’s chart at the hospital.

Results
It took a couple months to test materials and perfect a construction that would perform in real world conditions. The successful outcome netted the reseller a $5,800 order that repeated 3X a year. The reseller also marketed this new product to similar companies with success.

Fruit Labels

Opportunity
A reseller called on a local fruit packager. In assessing the packagers needs they discovered the requirement for a label/document that performed multiple functions. The product had to contain a shipping label, packing list and also provide an area for customer notes and a reorder card.

Solution
A laser cut sheet label/card combination. The shipping label portion could be attached to the box. The packing list could be removed and inserted into the packing list sleeve also attached to the box. The moisture resistant reorder card is then inserted into the box by the shipper.

Results
The reseller created one product that performs multiple function. The customer is happy and the reseller now has a $14,000 label order that repeats yearly. This reseller took the time to ask the customer all the questions and then worked with manufacturing on a solution. It took a little longer to engineer the right product but it was well worth the resellers and the customers time.

Candy Bar Wrappers

Opportunity
A reseller had a specialty candy manufacturer as a customer. This company produced candy sold for school fundraising efforts. For years this customer was buying documents and wearable products from the reseller. The reseller decided to inquire about their label product needs. The reseller was given permission to work with marketing and manufacturing on the company's high color custom candy bar wrappers.

Solution
The reseller worked with the company to create a candy bar wrapper where the front side is printed with product and nutritional information and the back side (inside wrapper) is printed with a marketing sweepstake promotion.

Summary
The reseller coordinated the creation of a product that fit the needs of both marketing and manufacturing. The product was a wrapper and not a traditional label. The customer was happy and the reseller was able to secure a $9,000 new order that repeats 3 times per year.

Mistake Helps Secure New Customer

Opportunity
A reseller had the chance to save the day for an automotive lubricant manufacturer. The manufacturer was going into production on a specialty silicone compound and noticed the color and copy was wrong on the tube dispensers that they use for packaging. They had 10,000 tubes that would have to be thrown away and the production line would be stopped until corrected tubes could be delivered.

Solution
The reseller worked with label manufacturing to create a custom label that fit the tube exactly. The label looked as if it was the original intended packaging. Color and copy were matched to meet the customer's requirements. Since the tube was squeezed, a polyolefin label material was used so that it would conform to the tube and “give” when squeezed. The order was rushed and delivered in time so it would not stop the customer’s production line.

Results
Although this was a onetime order, the reseller gained the customer's confidence by providing a solution. This reseller has gained additional business from this customer. This customer sees the value that the reseller provides.

Construction Material Labels

Opportunity
A reseller met with a prospect who manufactures erosion control barriers. The reseller discovered when assessing customer requirements that they were having issues with the current label. The label was hand applied and fell off the product too easily when exposed to outdoor conditions. The customer also did not like the appearance of the company logo and product images. The logo and other product images on the label faded in sunlight.

Solution
The resller partnered with his label manufacturer and proposed a permanent adhesive, a digitally imaged plate process (to improve the look of the graphics) and UV protected substrates. A test order was then provided for the customer to compare against the current product.

Results
The test product easily outperformed the current product and resulted in an order for 300,000 8 ½” x 11” labels. The reseller gained a customer and an order worth $21,000.

Pharmaceutical Labels

Opportunity
A reseller was selling to a contract pharmaceutical packager. This packager bottled generic aspirin and other over the counter medicines for independent drug stores. The packager was having issues with its current label supplier. The current supplier was having problems delivering product on time to meet the packager’s demanding production schedule. A missed delivery of a label shipment means the customer’s production line shuts down.

Solution
The reseller first needed to match the labels used on the product. The label needed to be tamper evident, durable and bond permanently to the product. The label also had to allow for a lot number and expiration date to be printed on during the manufacturing process. The reseller also worked with the customer and his label manufacturer to streamline the order process so that they eliminated late deliveries. Artwork moved electronically to manufacturing with no holdup allowing for most orders to be delivered 2 days early.

Results
The customer was happy because production delays were eliminated and the reseller maintained quality. The reseller took this streamlined process and applied to all this customers’ label orders. This reseller obtained 25 new label orders from this packager. Each order averaged around $2500 and repeated multiple times each year.

Freezer Labels

Opportunity
A new regional foodservice packaging company needed labels for its line of frozen crab cakes. The labels needed to be colorful, durable, and be able to withstand temperatures as cold as minus 20°F.

Solution
The reseller proposed 4 color process printed labels printed on a high gloss stock with a freezer compatible adhesive that would not fall off the product.

Results
The customer received a product that met all requirements. The customer's product has recently been added by a national supermarket chain. The reseller now has orders for 75,000 labels. This order is repeated 3 times per year.

Candy Labels

Opportunity
A candy manufacturer landed a contract to sell its product line to a large national retailer. The candy company spent thousands of dollars creating new designs. The labels on the product had to have superb graphics, barcodes had to have 100% readability and the label must stick permanently when auto applied to plastic bags. The labels needed to be approved by the candy manufacturer and also by the national retailer.

Solution
The reseller proposed 5 color labels plus a gloss UV varnish printed on a semi-gloss material with a permanent adhesive. The labels were printed 4-color process plus a spot color for each fruit flavor they were producing.

Results
All test labels passed inspection with flying colors. The initial test order was for 680,000 labels that the reseller sold for $9000. The reseller was awarded the repeat orders for 2.1 million labels for a value of $16,000

Chemical Drum Labels

Opportunity
A reseller calling on a local chemical manufacturer discovered an opportunity to sell drum labels. The chemical company was not satisfied with its current supplier’s print quality and the inability of the labels to run through their laser printer. They required the drum labels to be able to withstand moisture and exposure to hash elements. The adhesive needed to affix permanently to painted steel as well as plastic drums. The labels also need to be printed with variable information on a laser printer.

Solution
The reseller proposed a drum label printed on a vinyl substrate with an acrylic permanent adhesive. This combination will allow the label to stick to the drum regardless of the environment it encounters. The edges of the label were trimmed back 1/8” to help eliminate the issues of printing on a laser printer. It helped keep adhesive form oozing out of the sheet and jamming the internal components of the laser printer.

Results
The reseller provided a solution that exceeded the customer’s requirements. They gained a new account and added a new order for 10M labels selling for $2,100.
