File Formats and Media Accepted

Original PC or MAC formats are accepted. MAC formats are preferred.

Media Accepted

Email, FTP, Flash Drive, CD / DVD

File Types Accepted

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop Completed Layered file (No Flattened Images) or PDF files. We prefer an Adobe Illustrator EPS file with all fonts converted to outlines.

Image mode and resolution are extremely important to ensure correct color and clarity. All image based files need to have a resolution of 300 d.p.i. at actual size. All RGB images will be converted to CMYK which can cause color shifts.

Please convert all typography into outlines or paths. Here is a guide for doing that within Adobe Illustrator. Please embed all imagery into the artwork file rather than linking it.

Full Bleeds and Layout Requirements

Artwork bleed needs to be extended beyond the specified die specs-cut size (1/8” (0.125) in order to print your label project efficiently and correctly.

It is also wise to leave at least a 1/16” area of clear space (e.g. no significant design element or text) inside the die-cut area to allow for very slight shifts during die-cutting.

Color Matching Custom Labels

When matching colors to an existing or past label, we recommend a sample of your customer’s label in order to print your label project efficiently and correctly.

Matching label colors based on monitor screen colors or laser/inkjet printers is never recommended.

Spot Colors vs 4-color process color builds – most digital and flexographic labels are printed 4-color process. The ink color is build using overlapping percentage of the 4 colors cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Spot colors are mixed in advance and are not built out of 4-color process. For example if you order a reflex blue and 185 red label job, we would use those specific color matches and not build those colors out of 4-color process.

Please let us know about any spot colors (Flexo) you have in your artwork for accurate color printing. All spot colors (Digital) will be converted to CMYK.

Press Proofs – press proofs to match colors may cost additional. This is because the operator must ink and load the substrate onto the press to provide a true representation of how how your label job’s color will look. It may be worthwhile to order a press proof if your customer is launching a new label or for longer run jobs.

Other Considerations

All images must be embedded in the art files provided, not linked.

A Die Line must be included in the art file, or an attached file in order to show position.

If your labels require white ink, please contact customer service to discuss positioning and usage!

All UPC/Barcodes that are not supplied are to be identified in order to typeset correctly.

Name all spot colors (Flexo). All spot colors (Digital) will be converted to CMYK. All Pantone colors should be named according to their PMS book colors.

Please check your design and spelling before sending art to us. Corrections or modifications made after the proofing stage will incur extra time and expense since the entire pre-press process would be repeated to incorporate changes.
